Cook Islands Enhances Transparency with New Law Website

In a groundbreaking partnership, LexisNexis, a global leader in legal publishing, and the Cook Islands Government recently announced the launch of a website designed to simplify access to the laws of the Cook Islands. 

The website in collaboration with the Cook Islands Parliamentary Services and involving a major consolidation of laws project, marks a significant advancement in accessibility to the law and improving access to justice.

The enhanced access to up-to-date legal information is a significant boon for the offshore trust industry in the Cook Islands. Trustees, legal advisors, and clients will benefit from the ability to easily navigate and reference the comprehensive legal framework that governs offshore trusts. This transparency and ease of access to legal documents further bolster the Cook Islands’ reputation as a leading jurisdiction for trust and financial services, providing confidence to international clients and stakeholders.

In a joint press release by the Cook Islands Crown Law Office, Parliametary Services and LexusNexis, stated that the website would ’empower legal excellence in the Cook Islands’. 

This development not only symbolises a leap forward in legal accessibility but also strengthens the rule of law in the Cook Islands by ensuring that legislators, legal practitioners, scholars, and the general public have easy and free access to the consolidated legislation of the nation.”

The Laws of the Cook Islands website is accessible at from 24 June 2024.
