Cook Islands Finance were proud sponsors of the 2024 Go! Cook Islands Careers Expo on Thursday 13 June, 2024. The Authority’s presence at the Expo, which was organised by the Cook Islands Ministry of Educations, gave the opportunity for industry to engage and connect with the local community, highlight career paths for attendees and raise awareness around the key aspects of the Cook Islands financial services industry,.

It was a busy 6 hours at the Cook Islands Finance booth, with hundreds of students passing through collecting information on careers in the financial services industry, entering competitions and chatting to our team.

Cook Islands Finance CEO Tony Fe’ao delivered the keynote speech at the opening ceremony, focusing on one of the themes of the Expo, which was based on the ‘THINK BIG’ formula for success by inspirational neurosurgeon, author and politician Dr Ben Carson – that ‘Through hard work, perseverance and a faith in God, you can live your dreams’.

“One of our strategic mandates is to highlight employment opportunities for young professionals in the financial services industry.” Fe’ao stated in an interview with event organisers.

“The industry offers careers in law and accounting at wages comparable to those in New Zealand, and definitely higher than what is offered in the public service.”

“This allows professionals to work from our little paradise, while earning competitive wages,” added Fe’ao.

“We attended last year’s Expo and had a great experience, so being gold sponsor this year allows us to spread our message even further. We want to see more Cook Islanders enter the financial services industry.”
